Regarding your damp weather problem, the first thing to consider is that you need new plug wires. It's worth the money for a good set.

You intermittent cut-out problem can be found under FAQ on this board. Check the FAQ for diagnosing fuel pump relay and then more expensive distributor hall effect switch. You can replace the hall effect switch, but you risk damaging the distributor doing so, so I recommend a new distributor.
