Help! Rear shock for 75, 164

Hammering endwise usually doesn't work too well on these because of the shear
strength of the rust/rubber bond and the low elastic modulus of the rubber.
All the energy is dissipated deforming the rubber before you develop enough
force to break it loose. Something like a press would be better. Maybe a
giant C-clamp....
Have you tried to get any lube into it? If you can get it in there it may
help. Avoid using a torch on rubber. It's messy and nasty as well as a fire
hazard.
