Quick check for head gasket problem:

First start of the day. Open hood, remove coolant filler cap from resrvoir.

Get in, position yourself so you can see the open top of the reservoir.

Watch the reservoir while you start the engine. If you see coolant welling up and overflowing from the reservoir - the head gasket is gapped somewhere. Compression pressure is getting into the cooling system.

If no coolant loss that way, that doesn't mean the head gasket is OK.

Water pump leaks can be hard to spot, and also small hose leaks. Small amounts of water leaking out while driving evaporate quickly and leave no trace.

Had a similar problem. It was a leaky upper radiator hose at the engine end.

When you shut down after a drive, run open the hood real quick, while the pressure it still high - maybe you'll see a leak.

Good Luck,

Bob
