Oilhole in rod faces thrust side of cylinder, which is centre of road in your part of the world. Rod and main shells are fitted nib to nib making sure main caps are numbered. I would beg borrow or steal proper ring compressor whichever comes first. When pushing rod home make sure rod bolt does not foul crankpin and damage it. Good luck.
