Question re: replacing differential fluid on '95 960

Greetings.

I would like to replace my differential fluid with Mobil 1. My mechanic tells me that the drain plug is hidden behind my suspension helper spring (I think that's what he called it!), and that my suspension will have to be dropped to get to it.

This seems like poor design, if true. Does anyone have any experience with this?

As always, thanks for all the help you give!
