OK;

Only one wire from guage, runs to and is connected to fuel tank sender. Sender makes variable connection to ground (chassis of vehicle). Sender needs a good connection to tank, tank needs a good connection to chassis of vehicle.

For wiring diagram and color codes, see: http://www.intelab.com/swem/122S%20Wiring%20Diagram.jpg ...it looks like were talking about a Black wire.

To check guage: With IGN ON, ground wire which is connected to sender, fuel should read full...with wire disconnected from sender guage should read empty...or is it the other way around...I always forget...
