my beef with drums has always been more on motor bikes than cars. They lock up too fast on bikes, but the same holds true for cars, that being said I have found that staright line breaking on my 120s has always been very balanced, and as 80-90% of the braking comes from the front, my 120s drums seem to do the trick. However if you ever find a later 1800 that you can pull everything off of, new front and rear discs with twin line front calips is the way to go, a truly modern(ish) braking system,
