Last set of Bougicord ignition wires cost me aroudn $35 at VPI in Houston.

That's all I use. They are, I hear, the OEM for Volvo.

PS The pinging sound is not likely from any problem with ignition wires. Have you checked the compressin lately? Carbon build-up can raise it, maybe to where the grade of gas you use is too low.
