It is normal for it to run fast on a cold start up for some time. You might want to have the throttle body cleaned in case it is clogger and causing more than usual fast idle. My 740 turbo (1990) didn't fast idle much but they seem to have changed that on the newer cars. It may just be dirt in the throttle body and/or fast idle motor and the engine is compensating with higher than normal idle.
