New picture makes identification hose much easier.

Up close, as in the first pic, the item that hose enters looked rather like a radiator end cap. Obviously it's not.

The hose draws blow-by gasses from the crankcase into the air intake hose.

If there was a flame trap it would be in that hose or system.
