there have been previous examples of this, if I'm not mistaken, in the Jaguar "big cats". Initially a good idea, turned out years later to be a hell of a mess, and very difficult to repair corrosion damage. So, not a good idea.
I would prefer a rail without direct possibility for water ingress, but ventilated, with drain holes, and the corrosion decently repaired ; then, use cavity wax, penetrating oil, hot grease, or whatever you like, sprayed in the rails (after welding repair, please ).
