Update 200 1989

Read through the 700/900 FAQ today. It seems entirely posssible that my low idle when cold might be caused by a dirty TB or dirty idle air control valve. I suspect the IAC valve though as my problem only occurs when cold. Question - I don't own a Bentley, how did you test yours?

Based on my reading today, I think the IAC acts in a manner similar to the old cold start valve I mentioned in my earlier post. So I suspect they are one and the same.

In addition, the computer controls the IAC valve on LH 2.4 fuel injected cars such as ours. Apparently, the computer really sets the idle. However, I think that's a moot point if the IAC valve is already gunked-up.

One other possibility from the 700/900 FAQ is dirty or clogged fuel injectors.

My car needs a tune-up anyway, so I'm going to include a TB, IAC and flame trap cleaning. Hopefully that will cure my low idle. IMO - seems like a gunked-up IAC valve or throttle body are the most likely suspects....
