a couple more things to check... 1986

Okay, first off, if the engine is running rich to compensate for a low reading from the o2 sensor, it can raise the voltage to an acceptable level when it is running very rich (since you already know the engine is running rich, I would start with a brand new 02 sensor)

Second, I would very carefully check the engine timing as well as follow the guide in the chilton's book to check for sensor faults at the ECU connector (very simple 15 minute procedure that is completely worth it)

Good luck!!!
