It won't start on it's own, I can push start though . . . 700

You said something about a clutch switch -

When I was under the car I noticed that the boot that covers the clutch cable (I think that's what it was) was hanging out of the clutch, so I tried to push that back in. Could that have done it? I'll crawl under and pull that back out, although it started twice after I pushed that boot back on.

With the clutch in (this shouldn't matter - should it?) when i turn the ignition i hear a buzzing which I think is the fuel pump, I don't hear any clicks, not sure what I should here because usually you hear the engine turn over . . . should there be a click in there?
