Ya I think that most vacuum tanks have a check valve somewhere in the plumbing. If you have a little hand held vacuum pump (a little plastic Miti-Vac is extremely usefull for many many things), you could easily figure out what is doing what in a donor car setup. Then you could pull a tank and all of the bits you need for it to "collect" the vacuum and hold it until needed.
