Automatic to Manual 700

I have a 1990 740 GLE. My transmission is slipping, and I dont really want to replace it with another automatic just to have problems again. Does anyone know how hard it is to convert my automatic to a manual if I had a parts car that was a manual. How differnt is the wiring hookups. I am less worried about the mechanical aspect, more worried about the wiring and such.
