There's very little to the wiring. I'd point out that the AW automatics are usually pretty bulletproof transmissions so it's unlikely you'd have a repeat of the problem if you found a good used one. But having said that I'd love to put M46s in my 740 & 780, I just can't justify it yet because the AWs won't pack in, and my girlfriend wouldn't be able to drive them then (hmm... maybe I WILL go ahead with it...).
