Help Me Pick the Brick: 265 or 240?

Reliable get-around-town car? NOT something with an early PRV6, I'd say... though if it's cheap enough and the engine is really good - NO knocking, rattling, foul oil, and you solemnly swear only to use synthetic oil, and your mechanic is good but knows when to throw in the towel and pull that beast out and swap in a B21, then it might be worth it. That version of the PRV should be fine to 100k, perhaps 150 with religious oil changing, before anything starts to go south - but not much more. I'd venture to say there's far more life in the '93 even at 211k.
I understand the appeal of something as esoteric as a 265, but I'd only buy one if it was really cheap, as a weekend toy or as a transplant patient for a red-block turbo. Very few mechanics know how to work on them, and fewer still are willing to... there's a very high come-back rate on any major repairs to them, so they usually turn into a money pit for the client and a frustrating waste of time, supplies and heli-coils for the techs. Think of domestic 4cyls - when something wears out, the rest isn't far behind.
