strange electrical problem 700 1988

The only thing I can think of is a short in the headlight wiring harness. You may need to use an ohmmeter to confirm this. With the lights off the reading should be infinite/open. with the lights on the reading should be a few ohms, never 0 ohms which would indicate a short.
