Differential fluid? 140-160

George's description and recommendation is correct and thorough... my question is, without a drain plug, how did you determine what the oil in there looks like?

In any event, I'll take your word for it. You somehow got some water in there. Change that fluid right away. Been in any floods lately? Drive through deep water? Could just be condensation I suppose. In any event, keep a close ear on your rear wheel bearings. I got caught up in a flood in my 1800. Next morning found my diff oil to be rather watery. I changed it right away, and still had a bearing go within a month...
