Oil breather

You can remove the oil cap and place a large piece of Saranwrap, plastic, over the opening. If it gets drawn in, it is working.

For NA models, make sure the PCV is clean and especially the small hose that goes to the PCV. It can clog up real bad.

Turbos do not have a PCV.

Both have an oil separator box under the intake manifold, which can only be accessed by removing the manifold. Once this plastic box is clogged, it must be replaced. Along with the hoses, of course.
