I'm having some more fuel related issues(I think) with my stroker engine. Summit told me Accel would only honor the warranty on the individual injectors causing the problem, not the whole set. I was able to buy one locally, but I guess my set isn't flow matched now.
With the leaking injector fixed I fired it up and have been driving it for a couple of weeks, but it's been running really rough, although much smoother at higher RPM. I'm using Chevron 94 and it pings if you get on it a little more though. Timing is 10 degrees BTDC. Fuel pressure is at 40 psi vacuum hose off. I ran codes, but just got the usual 67 neutral safety switch, and 95 (that one has always been there too - I think it's just because of extra wire from
terminal 19 missing).
Last friday I left for work and only got a few blocks before it "died", and would not restart.Had to get towed home(lets see... 7 or 8 times in 4 years) When I got home from work I was able to start it long enough to get it into my garage. This time, however, I also got code 87, so maybe it's the relay. Could it be that a bad relay will allow a car to run, but not well?
Checking my records, I see my fuel filter hasn't been changed in almost 50,000 km(30,000 mi). My how time flies. I'm just wondering why I wasn't having any of these issues right up to the moment the crankshaft broke on the 302. Could gasoline sitting for 4 months even in a plastic fuel tank lead to a plugged fuel filter?
If it turns out to be the filter, prepump sock, or the pump(s),would this be a good time to go to a Walbro intake pump and do away with the expensive Volvo parts?
