I'm taking the Volvo off the road for a week or so for a little teardown, but while it was still mobile, I wanted to get some figures as far as weight and F/R distribution went.
I posted this over at T-bricks, as part of a V8 discussion where someone claimed that a V8 swap would require a complete suspension redesign due to the fubared weight distro. I thought my fellow V8ers would find it an interesting data point as well:
3320 lbs w/o driver and with approx 10 gallons of gas.
The splits were 1740 front and 1580 rear, making for a 52/48 weight distribution. Towery's (http://mason.gmu.edu/~mtowery/240_corner_weights.html) weight distribution page lists his car's (pre-turbo) weight distribution, and a few other 2xx cars at ~55/45.
I'm not really sure exactly how much weight the conversion added, I seem to remember weighing it and getting 3060 pre-conversion with a nearly empty tank. Some of the choices I made make the discrepancy larger than it could be, for instance:
Gas (30lbs)
Hitch (40lbs)
IPD bars F+R (10lbs?)
AC (30lb) complete but not hooked up
17s +spacers (10lbs?)
T56 (40-50lbs) instead of T5 from donor car
Exhaust (20lbs?) dual 2.5" with 2 cats and 2 resonators and 1 transverse muffler
Taking all those factors into account, the actual difference in powerplant seems to have added only ~70lbs, and there are a few areas where I could still get the weight back down and edge a little closer to 50/50.
