Thermostat recommendation?

I suggest you stay with stock, unless you have a bunch of other mods which would really impact engine temp.

I have no experience with these 302's and the thermo's, but I have a ton with LS1 engines. My experience there allowed me to drop to a 180, when most of the "guys" were going to 160.

There were two problems. First, every engine has a certain spot where it runs optimally. Some are higher than others. Maybe others on the board can tell you what they run and why. Also, in order to get the fans to kick in at the proper temp I had to program them with a hypertech programmer. Maybe it is not the same here.

Anyway, whatever gain you think you might get will not be great enough to notice or solve the problem you described.
