I have received input on putting the Explorer 302 V8, which Russ Converse now supports, or the B230FT. So I am evaluating both. Found a real attractive 302 set up, a 2000 Mountaineer engine/transmission in warehouse storage with 11k miles. Negotiating all the little pieces and price. Several 940T cars around but all high mileage. Haven't found an attractive path to the Volvo conversion. Wreaking yard engines/transmissions are appx $1500 with attractive mileage but then would have to deal with many other parts.
I have obtained both the Ford and Volvo electrical schematics and believe I can noodle out the conversion. Already rewired the diesel when the wiring rotted out.
Exploring motor mounts with a local hot rod builder. I have the JTR conversion manual which details the many 'things' to deal with. Just want to have a handle on all the issues before spending a couple thousand and dealing with a year's worth of problems.
I would certainly appreciate any input you would provide since you have done both. Pictures would be great.
