Follow up and new challenge: 745T V8 Tune up

THANKS for the education. This car's been a V8 since '05 and this is the first linkage issue I've had. I use the stock Volvo shifter/gear indicator, not sure exactly what was done underneath, but I can find out...It's going in for service next week (drop the pan/change filter-fluid/I'm told Mercon V is good for AOD's, maybe a shift improver kit),and I will use this information.
My AOD is the"non-electric model, just FYI. And I was wrong about the Park position- the "Park" function works, in that the car will not move when the shifter is placed in Park, BUT when I give it throttle in Park it wants to move forward. The mechanism that keeps the car from rolling forward is working, it just also seems to still be in a forward gear. Update: I drove it briefly yesterday, long enough for fluids to reach operating temp. Most of the time I seemed to have all forward gears, but the the shift point for the OD/4th has risen by apx. 1000 rpm, and a couple of times it didn't shift into OD at all, just slipped. I would immediately let off and stop- when I accelerated back up to hwy speed, it would shift into OD just fine. Not sure what THIS means, but I guess we'll find out next week. Again, I appreciate the help. BK
