Hi group,
I have 1988 760 with 5.0/AOD. It shudders badly under braking slow speeds, and before I start throwing money at it, I need some opinions. There is a slight warp in the left front rotor, so I will do rotors, pads, possibly calipers, and SS lines. I'd love to go with bigger brakes, but that is a whole different topic. However, it seems almost as if there is some driveline shudder as well. It seems like the transmission holds second gear much longer than it needs to so the brakes are fighting the tranny. Are the downshift points a function of the TV cable and the Vehicle Speed Sensor? I know that my car doesn't have the VSS connected. I haven't been able to locate the wires on the harness. It has been on the "to do" list for a while. The upshifts seem fine as far as I can tell. I have done some experimenting with braking while shifting the car into neutral. It seems to help the symptoms, but they don't disappear. The car has the updated poly bushings in front, new ball joints, new Koni struts, and outer tie rod ends.
I wish I had built this thing in the first place...
Thanks for the insight.
Chris
