cross drilled or slotted 850

My 854T is coming due for brakes.
Which is better for all year driving. Slotted or Cross Drilled.
I hear conficting stories with the two.
Cross drilled apparently in Winter climates can get a build up of snow and salt in the hole which can cause problems such a warping and break pad wear.
My discs right now are OEM from when I bought it about 6 months ago and the rears have a tad of rust. The car breaks well but I sometimes get a slight shimmy at low speeds. High speeds they seems loud.. (no squeeling or anything)

Don't waste your money on drilled or slotted rotors unless your going racing. Good luck.

The OEM rotors surfaces rust over rather easily. Thats normally
not a problem (if this is on the rotor surface).

Rear rotors wear slow and probably don't need replacing. You would
have to measure them to be sure.

Front rotors wear pretty fast. Feel that lip on the edge of the
rotor. When new, it was flat. Figure two sets of pads per set
    of rotors.

I've used OEM on both our Volvos. The braking performance is quite
good stock so I just went with stock. Discounters like www.volvoparts.com
sell OEM parts close to the price of after-market parts.

Golf-are you saying that new OEM rotors and pads are BETTER than new drilled/slotted rotors and pads? Or that the latter set-up will create problems down the road?? I recently switched to zimmerman drilled up front and Balo in rear with MINTEX pads and the car stops shorter than when I replaced them with reg. brembo rotors and metalic pads. So far no problems; minor squeks until they warm up. thing is, I would love to drive an 850 with new stock pads and rotors to compare.... BD

I am saying that the additional cost for the drilled rotors is a waste of $$ in my opinion, due to the fact that they do warp easier, and are more expensive. I haven't seen a situation where my OEM's didn't do the job. And for $120 for the entire front set, isn't too bad.
