Rubber valve stem failure S70

I recently had two rubber valve stems fail on my T5 with "swept" 16" wheels. This happened within two mounths. They blew out in the middle section, sort of like a sidewall failure on a tire. They both failed while sitting in my garage. How lucky is that! I have never seen this happen before and the guys at NTB said the same. I had all tires (Toyo Proxes) dismounted/remounted and stems replaced. Has anyone else had this happen? Could it be the wheels causing it? This seems like a potential disaster at 70 mph+. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
