I believe I had this same problem and it ended up being a 29 cent fix. There is a red power line that runs from the positive terminal on the battery. On my 94 850, the upshift light was flashing. No impact on driving. Sounds like the same thing.

It was recommend that I look for problems with that wire. All I ended up doing was replacing the caroded terminal and everything worked well.
