Probably related to Volvo's decision to use the regular low beam headlights as DRLs, instead of low-wattage DRLs like, e.g., BMW. With a 55 watt bulb on whenever the car is running, and with the back of the bulb sealed up by the protective plastic cover, it probably gets pretty hot in there.

Leon -- did you replace the connectors or just leave the metal connectors as-is?
