This is a belated follow-up, but ...

When I mentioned this to the dealer (Volvo of Westport, CT) they replaced the entire headlight assembly (lens, bulbs, wires, etc) on both sides -- all covered by the extended warranty. I suspect that if it wasn't a warranty item, they would have just spliced in a new connector as Klaus suggested; I certainly wouldn't have replaced the headlight assemblies if I were paying for it myself.
