Here's my experience with a 2002 V70 purchased a year and a half ago. Big fight with family - the don't want a wagon. Get it home, nobody wants to drive the S70 or S80, they love the wagon.
Certified, 34Kmi, heavily detailed, new rotors and pads, clean engine compartment, etc., but when I pick it up there are only two sets of key - both on remotes (one regular, one valet). Get home and find one of the remotes does not work. Dealer had repalced it, apparently did not program it.
First thing I did was get an aluminium belly plate from IPD. Took it to my regular garage, put it up on lift, whoa... no plastic belly pan.(!?!)
Months later son tells me the car sends up a cloud under heavy acceleration. Find it looks like Bond in a BD4. Three trips to dealer, last one tell them keep it for a week, but find the problem and fix it! Dealer finds that the block is the same as the turbo, but as it is normally aspirated, there is no turbo. The oil return line, from the turbo, hole in the block should be plugged, but the plug is missing. Replace plug, no more 007 action.
Power lock on one of the doors fails, power steering resevior and line leaks, all fixed under warranty.
Went to renew front brake pads, found no rotor retaining bolts...
There have been a number of issues, and input from this board has helped.
The car is great for taking the kids to school 700+ miles away, for family use. I'de buy another, but first want it up on the dealer's lift, and go over it with a fine tooth comb.
