Looking at 850 wagon 850

Check for oil leak btwn the transaxle and block (near driver side wheel)($800)
Check for pulsing brake pedal(warped rotors)
Check the drive axle boots if broken then greasy
Check this board for the common problems (not too many & they tend to repeat)
Check the AC (although better than 240's inmho, 850's are bigger repair)
If it has good pick up and no blue smoke, then it pobably has good compression.
Check with a Volvo shop
