Thinking about trying my first 850, by a 240 driver. Comments 850

The '98 70 is basically an 850 with smoother curves and the window switches on the doors. It also has a throttle cable not "drive by wire" like the later cars.

Klaus sez avoid the '93 850s. I second that. Everything is different on 'em including the wheels.

Like everything it's been a mixed bag. Since I've kept the car for 10 years it must be the best car I've ever owned, but I can look at the size of the Tyvec envelope I store the repair receipts in, and it must be the worst car I've ever owned. Suggest looking for a private party sale, look for someone who has all the service receipts.

I won't buy another because A.) I already have one and B.) Volvo decided it wants to abandon the manual tranny enthusiast market.

I don't know what I'll buy next, it just won't be a Volvo. In the meantime the seats are comfy and the AC is still working this season. (Famous last words!) I don't worry much about parking lot dings and it's still fun to drive.
