How hot do I let it get? 850 1996

My experience from my 94 was that if I let it idle in almost any weather, the fan would cycle on and off just sitting there.....I would just leave the hood down and let it run in the driveway for about 15 minutes and listen to hear if the the fan is kicking on and off.....if not....those relays are a dime a dozen on ebay.....
