When removing the mirrors, what are the chances that the mirror (or it's mount) will be broken?

This is my second winter without heated mirrors (such a tragedy, I know), but I've not been bold enough to just go prying them off. I don't want to break the mirror mounts or power adjuster just to find out the problem lies elsewhere.
