Thanks for the advice. I have cleaned the units and replaced the batteries.

Can you explain why moving the remote causes the signal to be accepted by the receiver? For instance, I am standing a few feet away from the car and press the unlock button. Nothing happens. While still holding the button I twist the fob to the right (or left) and the door unlocks.

I have also tried this many times with the lock and trunk release and get the same result. It really has me stumped.
