agreed, there are some other benefits as well. Usually they are realized in very extreme climates (Alaska, Yukon, etc.), but they do exist. I still stick by the principle that if you are going to change your oil every 5K or so, your engine wouldn't realize the difference. If it is an extended interval, then synthetic all the way. I might even say that for a turbo no matter what the oci.
Conventional oil is light years ahead of where it used to be. I've just moved over 300K on my 98 S70 using almost solely Pennzoil Conventional 10W30. Runs like a top still. I did have to do my oil separator at 285K though...must have been that dino;)
