Hello all,

I never thought the day would be approaching, but alas it is - I've got to bid farewell to my beloved '96 850 sedan. Well, as the subject line says - sort of. In reality I'm giving it back to my dad, who'll be taking the car down to the folks' second home in central Florida so that they can have a set of wheels when they are down there. I live in the DC metro area and don't need a vehicle for the moment - I'm looking for another Brick soon. (They're still going to maintain a primary residence in Vermont.) The 850 was only driven a handful of times last year, all with me, and only in nice weather - its current mileage stands at 87,961. Before the car heads to Florida I know that it has quite a few needs that will need to be taken care of before embarking on the 1200+ mile journey. We don't want to have any catastrophic breakdowns or failures on I-95. So here goes, and please do feel free to give me some advice as always.

1) Rear main seal. Can't believe it lasted this long but dad said he observed some leaking on the garage floor a few weeks ago. I think it's time to change.
2) Timing belt. According to the records, the PO had the belt changed eight years ago at 56k miles. I wouldn't try a long-distance trip with a belt that old. So it'll be changed along with the tensioner, pulley and rollers.
3) Top motor mounts. My mechanic told me last year that they needed to be changed. They'll be changed.
4) Cooling fan relay. I figured, what the heck, let's do it while we can.

Those are the only major things I can think of right now. I've had a lot of fun with this car for the past five years but at least she'll remain in good hands, and in the family. It still has the original tailpipe, a/c evaporator and blower motor so that's a good thing. Hard to believe I only put a little over 26k miles on it in five years (got it with 61k).
