Thanks Klaus,

Waiting for some free time to investigate further. To be honest, I don't think all of the parts are there. I'm no mechanic, so bear with me...there is a pulley looking thing that has a cable that appears to go back into the firewall, I assume going to the gas pedal. Shouldn't there be another cable wrapped around this pulley, as in the cruise control cable?

My 88 740 wagon didn't have cruise. I bought the parts used on ebay and used brickboard advice to install it. It worked GREAT! I know I can figure this out, but this FWD setup is new to me.
