I share your misery. The window guide channel behind the lock is a piece of crap. The aluminium is soft and nasty and was pretty badly bent in mine.

I got it fixed last week by my mechanic who had to reweld the broken section that screws the bottom of the guide onto the door. It took him nearly an hour to remove, weld and reinstall since the channel guide is sort of hidden if you don't want to remove the entire door mechanism.

See if you can pick up a good piece from a yard in you're DIYing. FWIW, the guide is held by only one screw with the top section being slotted into the door frame.
