Mike,

I sprayed "Gunk" (degreaser) on the deadening blanket as well...it turned out pretty good. My neighbour the "car guy" was with me when detailing the engine and he told me to do it (which I found suprising, thinking it might screw up the blanket) but I went ahead and it worked great. Just be sure to rinse thoroughly...
