I just responded to the "CHECK ENGINE" light using the onboard

fault diagnosis under the hood. I got a code of "1-4-3". According

to the Haynes manual for Volvo 850 "front knock sensor signal absent

or faulty" is the culprit. The manual is quite explicit in its

explanation of how to remove the unit, but, how does one TEST the

unit before getting into the removal process? How long can the car

be safely driven in this condition? Also the diagnostic unit does

not reset using the instructions given in the manual.
