I just responded to the "CHECK ENGINE" light using the onboard
fault diagnosis under the hood. I got a code of "1-4-3". According
to the Haynes manual for Volvo 850 "front knock sensor signal absent
or faulty" is the culprit. The manual is quite explicit in its
explanation of how to remove the unit, but, how does one TEST the
unit before getting into the removal process? How long can the car
be safely driven in this condition? Also the diagnostic unit does
not reset using the instructions given in the manual.
