Re: Knock sensor and oxygen sensor are the same? 850 1994

Normally the sensor that bolts to the block is fine, its the wiring that causes the problem. Shorts to ground or opens. Cleaning the connectors can help with this, however after a few attempts at cleaning and the code still returns then the "knock sensor Kit" should be installed.

How long can you drive the car?

If you have a turbo only initial boost will be allowed, and an increase in the fuel to the cylinders to help cool the cylinder may effect your gas milage, the knock system is disabled, and ignition advance is reduced for safety. If you don't have a turbo then only the last two items are effected.
