These cars are still largely a mystery to me, but I would think that an electrical problem related to no reading on the diagnostic box would also nix spark. That pretty much leaves fuel, have you checked fuel pressure at the injectors? Is it not trying to start at all so lawn-mower syndrome is not a possibility? I haven't had the experience myself, so I can't describe the exact symptoms.
