The new fuel pumps have a check valve internal to them that keeps the fuel from draining back into the tank when the pump is off. It is possible that yours has a check valve problem and the fuel line is empty, but if it starts and runs for a 5 second count, that should have been enough to bring fuel to the fuel rail. Besides, if all of the fuel would have drained out, it would not have started at all.
There is a recall on some fuel pumps for some year/models, check with your local dealer. Your car no longer has a fuel pump relay, IIRC, as it is programmed into the ECU.
