engine starts three times and stops C70 2004

I did what one blogger said to try. Loosen the gas cap and turn the ignition key to position two 4 or 5 times and listen for the fuel pump running. the first ime the pump ran 3 seconds the second time 2 seconds and the third time less than a second. I tried a start and it started right up with no problems
and drove it all day. Very mysterious indeed. but it did work. Still do not know the problem that occured.
