What about the ability of the filter to catch particles? It's more than mass/volume/pressure. A filter that fields a better trapping technique is going to be able to "let up" (read: improve efficiency) on the bottlenecks of airflow like (volume of air) x (speed of air) x (density of air). Oil-coated fibers have better trapping ability than dry paper filter - that is my point.
