XC90 Overheating? XC90

Too bad she didn't open the hood right away, then she could have pointed out to you what was red hot.

Insufficient data for the rest of us. Smoke could have been wiring or an oil fire.

Sounds like my wife and her A4. She called me on her way home: there was a glow coming from the front of the car as she waited to get on the Interstate. Because it was -15F and windy, I told her to drive home (about 15 minutes). When she finally stoped again at a light 1 mile from the house, she called again and said it looked like a fire under the engine! Drive down hill to our house and pull into the garage, I had the fire extinguisher in hand. I opened the hood and saw a single flame - I blew it out.

She had blown the cam seal, dirty flame trap, and poured oil everywhere! No serious damage done.
